Who are we?

merrrit is a fashion brand based on the shared experiences and background of two close friends.

 

The name 'merrrit,' with its delightful triple 'r's, isn't just a name; it's a statement! With stress on the 'r's, this indicates both sarcasm and a nod to slang. Lidya and Nadin graduated from Central Saint Martins with a Merit Degree. Our journey began with us making fun of it.

We are based in Istanbul but also in London. So we embody the essence of lolita girlies who are also chav/tirrrek. Being merrrit comes with many contrasts; thus, we constantly find ourselves dressed like lolita dolls, walking in the suburbs of Istanbul, and being inappropriately dressed on public transportation. Although the places we go reflect our energy, our journey also shapes the experience. While wearing a micro mini skirt and a top that screams 'look at me!', we find ourselves passing through the crooked streets of the Turkish ghetto. Suddenly, we appear at a very fancy event.
